About Us

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but in this digital age we’re losing what generations had before us. This is our effort to bring it back—to use this age of social media to build one another up and share ideas to make hopefully make every day run a little smoother.

This fraternity of mothers was started by Jessica and Tracy. Two moms raising three boys while living 348 miles apart. We wanted a way to regularly communicate with each other about ideas that couldn’t be contained to our daily text messages to each other. That’s when Maternity Fraternity was born.

The messages and ideas we were sharing with each other helped us not feel so lonely in this journey of motherhood; a journey that has become, in these modern times, inherently lonely. We thought if we could share our thoughts and crowdsource the messages and ideas of moms from all over the world, we could all help each other navigate the ups and downs this journey of motherhood we are on and life in general.

What can you expect from us?

Validation that you are not alone on this journey, even if it is lonely at times, and with that comes ideas for building your own village, support in teaching your children your culture and values, the occasional pep talk, and so much more. Tracy and Jessica are putting their talents to work and that translates into more than we can condense into one paragraph, but we hope you have you join this journey with us.

We are at the beginning of our adventure right now, but we hope you’ll join us as we expand to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and of course, this blog.

How We Met

Fort Stewart, GA held a weekly playgroup that both Tracy and Jessica attended; Jessica spotted a woman with an adorable little boy and immediately developed a squish on the pair. After a few awkward small talk conversations, we learned how similar our situations were.

“How old is your son? One and a half? Mine too!”

“Your husband speaks Cantonese? I speak Cantonese!”

“Your husband’s getting out of the Army in a few months? Mine too!”

That’s when Jessica lured Tracy into a playdate in the best way possible – FOOD!

The next few months, we became fast friends, as did our sons. Trips to the beach, visits to the splash park, adventures in Savannah, and play dates were cut short when Tracy moved back to Michigan and Jessica moved to Indiana. Thankfully, modern technology makes keeping in touch easy through texts, video calls, and Amazon Prime gifts to the little ones.

As we’ve transitioned into our new homes and civilian lives, we’ve been lucky to have one another to lean on.

Tracy & Jessica

Literally the only picture with both of us in it. We have hundreds of pictures of the boys together though!

About Jessica

I’m a mom of one very sweet and active little boy who keeps me busy with everyday adventures chasing down space bandits, digging for buried treasure in the sandbox, or sailing the seven seas in a cardboard box. To keep a balance in life, I stress bake, pretend to knit, and oh yeah…I’m writing a book of fiction.

About Tracy

I’m a mom of two boys (3 year old and a <1 year old) so I’m constantly moving– playing cars, fighting bad guys, and getting tackled — all while trying to keep a baby asleep. When I’m not mom-ing, I’m finding crafty projects to do on Pinterest, binging Netflix, and dabbling in photography.
