Dear Tracy,

Thank you for taking a summer hiatus with me.

As you know, the whole “18 summers with your kid” that’s been floating around social media hit me hard.

18?! That’s all I get?! And I’m already down three?!

And I got knocked off balance trying to make it the best summer ever when I should have been reminding myself that childhood is already magical with a bike and a garden hose.

Or…in the case of these pictures, baking soda and vinegar mixed with old washable paint makes for a fun morning.

So, we’re back from our unplanned (but necessary) hiatus which included some brain storming.

Book of the Week

We’ve decided to start a “Book of the Week” series on Instagram and Facebook.

Just a book we’re reading with our kids, the book our kids are obsessed with, and books you recommend. So, moms, recommend us some books!

But, Jess! My kid is 8, 12, 17, or any age that is not 3!

Don’t worry! I know a librarian with a blog. Abby has some great recommendations for all ages. And if you have a kid interested in becoming a librarian, she actually lays out step by step how she became one AND what her days are like.

#momwinwednesdays

That’s right, Mom Win Wednesdays! Share with us your mom wins and we’ll feature you on our Facebook page! Big Wins? Little Wins? We’ll celebrate them all with you! We’re in this journey of motherhood together and we should celebrate together! A -big- thank you to our friend Devin for inspiring this hashtag!

Let’s Get Organized

I don’t know about you, but I’m struggling to get my house together and balancing the mental load (aka emotional labor) has left me feeling burnt out. I may have made the mistake reading the Kon Mari book when I should have been reading about how to give less…well, we’ll just call them bunnies. However, it’s motivated me to go through things one room at a time and if luck is on my side we’ll have some tips and tricks we’ve learned the hard way to help you declutter your house, declutter your pent up worries, and declutter the drawer of no return where all the scissors in your house go never to be found again. Seriously. Why are there 6 pairs of scissors in this house and I cant find a one?!

And So Much More…

So, join us as we kick off the last days of summer and start the school year!

Love,

Jess

I'm a mom of one very sweet and active little boy who keeps me busy with everyday adventures chasing down space bandits, digging for buried treasure in the sandbox, or sailing the seven seas in a cardboard box. To keep a balance in life, I stress bake, pretend to knit, and oh yeah...I'm writing a book of fiction.
